Forces of Fashion
Vogue is a fashion and lifestyle magazine that covers a variety of topics, including beauty, culture, and runway fashion. It is one of the world's most prominent magazines and is an influential brand in both the fashion industry and the cutting edge of international culture. Vogue, in collaboration with MAC and Joe and the Juice, put together the Forces of Fashion event. Vogue wanted a snappy video for social media to showcase the highlights of the day, shot, edited and delivered on the same day. Speakers at the event included: Saoirse Ronan, Gwendoline Christie, John Galliano, Stella McCartnety, Law Roach, Lena Dunham, and many more.
Production Goals & Outcomes
The Vogue team provided the videography crew here at Crocodile Tears with an outline of the events for the day, and a list of specific moments to capture and highlight later in the edit. Using a tight shooting schedule to ensure that our videographer was always in the right place at the right time, we effectively captured all bullet points on our original brief throughout the 13 hour day, and distilled the hours of footage into a tight 30 second video for delivery on the same day. This completed reel is available to view on the British Vogue Instagram page.
Development Phase
With the Forces of Fashion event being scheduled full of exciting events and panels, it was vital for us to be working from the same mindset as out client. Following a discussion with the Vogue team, Cory was able to help them identify key moments to be captured throughout the day, whilst leaving room for videographer Joshua to roam around the event and capture other non-scripted moments. Using this bullet point brief from the client, our team had a rough framework to work from and work their magic.
Shoot Phase
Such an exciting and varied shoot required equal parts pre-planning and adaptation on the day. Videographer Joshua and project manager Cory bounced between multiple packed events, including a catwalk, a book signing, multiple live make up demonstrations, a DJ set, numerous live discussion panels and BTS of the event and its partners. It was important to not only showcase the exciting stars and workshops of the Forces of Fashion event, but also to breathe life into the day through shots of the guests lucky enough to have been there on the day. This was a one-day shoot with one videographer.
Post-Production Phase
The 4 hours+ of footage was edited down by Joshua and Cory, and the first version of the snappy social media video was delivered on the same day as the event. Following two rounds of feedback and small alterations, the final edit was delivered to the Vogue team, which is now available to watch on their Instagram, currently with 65K views.
