Don’t Worry,

We’ve All Been There

It’s Easy to Get Swept Away by the Never-Ending Jargon

So here’s a handy guide to some of the more confusing terms that you may come across to make the production process with us that much smoother - you can thank us later!

Let’s work together to bring your ideas to life and help your business stand out in a crowded digital landscape.

Glossary

  • The first step in your video production journey! Starting with a no pressure enquiry call with one of our enthusiastic experts to discuss your project, and to provide impartial advice on how to approach it in the most cost-effective way, without compromising quality.

When you’re happy that we can make your vision a reality, along with a 50% deposit, the fun begins! Our team spring into action, scripting, shot listing, storyboarding our pitch to best suit your brand and brief.

When signed off, we then begin scheduling - producing shot lists, call sheets (shown), location scouting, casting, and anything else your project needs - at a breakneck pace.

  • With the shoot in the diary, now it’s time to hit the ground running and shoot the heck out of your production. Scripted or unscripted, in London or anywhere else in the world, rain or shine - our crews are made of tough stuff and will go the extra mile to get the shot.

And we don’t mean any shot, we mean a full frame, 4K shot as standard - you just can’t get it any better. Whether one of our RED, Canon or Sony cameras, you’re always getting a cinema-quality output.

  • Like piecing a puzzle together, its now up to our post-production team to turn our rushes into a tight, eye-catching video to expertly suit your brief. Using industry-standard programmes such as DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro, our edit team can polish everything from a feature film to an Instagram Reel - including a crisp mix and a colour grade that pops.

In the unlikely occasion that you have some amendments to the edit, our wonderful team can make those alterations without question, to fit your vision. There’s a reason why clients come back to us time and time again!

  • A full frame camera has an image sensor that is the same size as a standard 35mm film frame. This means that it's able to shoot at a higher dynamic range, producing the best possible image.

1080p, 4K and 8K are resolution sizes that determine how much information is displayed. Lower resolutions are often described as ‘grainy’ and don’t scale to larger screens very effectively. Shooting at 4K or 8K provides much more scope and versatility in the future.

  • Taking place in the post-production stage, sound mixing is the process of syncing up all audio tracks (usually not recorded directly into the camera) and 'cleaning' the audio by removing any frequencies that muddy the output.

  • All take place during pre-production. Scripting involves writing a script (aka screenplay) that outlines the narrative and visual elements of the project. A shot list is a document which outlines the numerous shots required to completely visualise the script. A storyboard is a visual companion to a shot list, employing sketches to better understand each shot.

  • Our cameras shoot in a format called log, creating a raw image that looks grey and discoloured. This enables the camera to capture an image with full colour information that can then be extracted by colour grading. So don't be shocked if you ever see the raw footage!
